   Dr. Hanif KANJI
Chief Financial Officer

Hanif Kanji brings a unique combination of skills ranging from finance, insurance, business administration, entrepreneurship, healthcare and management with which to spearhead the financial function of LanguageCalls.

Having practiced as a medical doctor in the field of general surgery in the late 1980s, he quickly made a transition to a career in investment banking which spanned eleven successful years with major international banks in London, New York, Paris and Hong Kong in the areas of corporate finance and derivatives. In the year 2000, Hanif turned to entrepreneurship and has consistently applied his strengths in change management, financial analysis and engineering, process reengineering, business development, and team building including the restructuring and reengineering of a then loss-making e-health subsidiary of a Hong Kong listed company, which he turned around to profitability in nine months - well ahead of schedule.

Hanif earned his medical degree from Cambridge University in the UK and an MBA from the Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania, USA.

A British national, Hanif was born in Switzerland to parents of Indian origin and grew up in (the former) Zaire, before moving to the England to complete his schooling. He grew up speaking four languages by the age of five: Swahili, Lingala, Belgian French and Katchi (the Indian dialect his parents speak). Having forgotten the first two, Hanif eagerly awaits the development of SwahiliCalls so he can regress into his childhood. He also has a good working knowledge of German but is still recognized as a complete non-native Indian when he tried to speak his family dialect of Katchi.
